Nokia Lumia 800:

- AMOLED capacitive touchscreen, 16M colors
- 80 x 800 pixels, 3.7 inches screen
- 512 MB RAM
- 8 MP, 3264x2448 pixels, Carl Zeiss optics, autofocus, dual-LED flash
- 1.4 GHz (single core) Scorpion Qualcomm MSM8255 Snapdragon processor
- Adreno 205 GPU
- 16 GB storage internal storage
- Standard battery, Li-Ion 1450 mAh
- Microsoft Windows Phone 7.5 Mango

Sony Xperia S:

- LED-backlit LCD, capacitive touchscreen, 16M colors
- 720 x 1280 pixels, 4.3 inches screen
- 1 GB RAM
- 12 MP, 4000x3000 pixels, autofocus, LED flash
- 1.5 GHz (Dual-core) Qualcomm MSM8260 Snapdragon processor
- Adreno 220 GPU
- 32 GB storage internal storage
- Standard battery, Li-Ion 1750 mAh
- Android OS, v2.3 (Gingerbread), planned upgrade to v4.0

As you can see Sony Xperia S is better than Nokia Lumia 800 in every aspect. I believe Xperia S is worth the wait.

The Sony phone is clearly better in aspects of specs but what about the OS? Is Nokia's Microsoft Windows Phone 7.5 Mango any good?

Very few apps in Windows Phone Market. The platform is new so obviously lot of bugs and less features.. Android has many apps now.. And Android 4 is quite stable

Instead of Nokia Lumia 800 you can go for Samsung Omnia W. India price of Samsung Omnia W is $309 whereas Nokia Lumia 800 costs $ 578.. Following is the specifications of Samsung Omnia W

- Super AMOLED capacitive touchscreen, 16M colors
- 480 x 800 pixels, 3.7 inches
- 512 MB RAM
- 5 MP, 2592 x 1944 pixels, autofocus, LED flash
- 1.4 GHz Scorpion (Single core) Scorpion Qualcomm MSM8255 Snapdragon processor
- Adreno 205 GPU
- 8 GB storage internal storage
- Standard battery, Li-Ion 1500 mAh
- Microsoft Windows Phone 7.5 Mango

Samsung Omnia W has front facing camera for video calling but Nokia Lumia 800 does not. Nokia Lumia 800 has a better main camera with 8MP whereas Samsung as 5MP.

Here you can see even if you compare the higher priced Nokia Lumia 800 with medium range priced Samsung Omnia W you will still see that Nokia Lumia 800 looses..

So if you have the budget for higher priced smartphone Sony Xperia S is the best choice... For now nothing beats that phone.

Xperia S is yet to release. Wait for reviews.

It depends on whether you want a Windows Phone or Android.
